INFORM…
Camino 2015 / Stage 71 / Monday 5 July / From León to Hospital de Órbigo / 32 km
I set out again early in the morning after a reconstructive Sunday during which I saw a connection between information and creative act. I’m in a hurry to leave the city and its noisy traffic in order to find again the calm and serenity of walking in the quieter country, and my steps quicken. I will advance today in one go as far as Hospital de Órbigo, and tell myself with a name like that, I will surely find something to treat my body which risks suffering from the 32 km that I’m again going to cover on a hot day.
I focus again on this creating act forming material out of nothing, like a breath rising without being seen or perceived until then and from which now emanated the visible from what had been invisible, light out of the abyss of darkness and nothingness. As a matter of fact, the fact is that matter walked out of such a breathing preamble! Moreover I really like the expression “ahead” chosen by the erudite Chouraqui to translate the first word of the first chapter of the Bible called Genesis. Ahead or “head on”: this quasi neologism has the merit, on the one hand, to insure the primacy of the creative act as the heading of everything, the beginning of everything, the true starting point; and on the other hand giving it the connotation of a fierce will, a stubbornness, on the part of the mysterious and plural divinity who can engender things from his breath breezing over the void.
Today we know the vertiginous immensity of the interstellar void: if the whole sphere of the visible universe were brought to the size of the Earth, the biggest among the 60 most important stars would be a golf ball! And at the other end of the lens, the volume of the atom, it is 99,9999999999999% empty. In suppressing the void of the atom, the Earth would be a sphere with a radius of 150 meters instead of 6000 kilometers. And yet it is the accumulation of these atoms, essentially empty, which allows the stars, mountains and humans to be distinguished from each other. But when I encounter a pilgrim and say “Holà hombre” [hey, man!] I can affirm that some quasi void has just greeted another quasi void! And yet each of the two exists and is recognizable, and none is the shadow of nothing!
Paradoxically it is known that the constituents of matter are both waves and particles at the same time. In the way that the strings of a violin give different tones according to the length of the vibrating string, the theory of the cords would explain that it is the vibrations of such infinitesimal cords that allow particles of matter to exist, to combine themselves, and to render matter perceptible!
Thus, the vibratory nature of information would inform at the same time in a common entity the matter and the spirit. Matter would become perceptible to my senses like the sound of a church bell would reach my ears by its vibration. My spirit, on the other hand, would then be subjectively informed by my little brain. Once the tuning was made, the corpuscular nature of matter would become truly palpable not only in thought, but also in reality! It is simple and complex at the same time, but matter only exists when for me, as for all others capable of perception, by the information which makes the neurons vibrate on the tuning-fork of a given frequency: vibration (or sound of the bell) A, good morning sir; vibration B, good morning madam; vibration C, good morning lizard; vibration D, good morning plane tree!
But how can we explain the growing complexity of the universe? How can the information that we have about the universe be enriched by new information regarding it? How can my little brain gain perception about that which constitutes it? And how to conceive that the universe gives itself new stars, new matter? Entropy is a word that qualifies the capacity of energy to produce something. Is there some decreasing entropy of information that draws from disorder to enrich order? If so, information would be capable of informing about matter until an elementary threshold capable of activating the spirit. And the spirit would help then to structure the matter, to give it form. There would be a synergy in that which would tend toward an ever-higher level of consciousness.
That reminds me of the trajectory between the Alpha and the Omega point, with levels more and more complex starting from the appearance of the unity of life (see Stage 53). And I also love this duality between matter and spirit, like the head or tail of a coin whose engravings would be more or less fine, precise and complex, beneath the original impulsion of information, and after a time more or less long in turning like a top! Which could explain the simultaneous discoveries at certain periods by independent and far distant authors. That would also permit apprehending the fact that the universe is only partially intelligible. I perceive that the visible universe and the brain have in common the same source of information since the primordial origin. And the coin that turns on itself could twirl around much longer before revealing more and more finesse in its faces, one with respect to the spirit, the other to matter …
This material and spiritual bivalence permits two complementary levels concerning the material world. The one I perceive by my senses, and which is only in fact the Reverse Side of things! And that more mysterious deeper Right Side reflecting a reality unceasingly creative of new information! In the beginning was the Word, and the Word continues to give form, He continues to inform! To the Reverse Side, can I perhaps associate the indisputable universal gravity, and to the Right Side may I dare to make a comparison with universal love?
